Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has secured two windpower projects in the Kutch district of Gujarat, India.
Under the deal, Suzlon will install 238 units of S111 140m wind turbine generators (WTG) with a rated capacity of 2.1MW each.
Both the projects will be executed on a turnkey basis and the company will provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services.
Suzlon Group CEO J P Chalasani said: “The two projects totalling a 500MW order is a testament to the customer’s confidence in our technologically advanced and innovative products and services.
“There is an increased interest from all customer segments to invest in renewable energy in their pursuit of contributing towards mitigating risks of climate change and providing affordable and renewable power for all.
“With the introduction of the bidding regime, the industry is poised to grow between 8GW and 10GW annually. We are committed to partner with our customers to scale it up further and enable India’s transition from conventional fuel dominated energy architecture to renewable energy sources.

The S111 WTG is the latest addition to the 2.1MW platform and features Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology.
The projects are expected to provide electricity to more than three million households and curb more than ten million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
