Distributed energy resources (DER) developer EnSync Energy Systems has partnered with Lower Electric to offer solar energy electricity solutions to its clients in Illinois, US.
With the new partnership, EnSync Energy intends to support the state’s long-term renewable resource procurement plan, which states that investor-owned electric utilities must source at least 25% of their electricity sales from solar and wind sources by 2025.
EnSync Energy executive vice-president Dan Nordloh said: “Through this partnership, EnSync Energy has immediate access to an existing customer base and the infrastructure necessary for project penetration into the Illinois market.
“Combined with Lower Electric’s client relationships, the partnership creates a range of market options that align with both Lower Electric’s and EnSync’s client interests.”
With its procurement plan, the state intends to facilitate the adoption of solarpower and the sale of renewable energy credits to solar operators to reduce the installation and operation costs of projects.
The plan is currently being reviewed by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) and is expected to be effective from 3 April this year.
