Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO) has partnered with US-based firm Curtiss-Wright to improve the efficiency of thermal power plants in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Curtiss-Wright develops hardware and software for power plant management.

Under the new partnership, TEPCO has agreed to supply Curtiss-Wright’s thermal performance optimisation software to the power plants. The alliance will allow TEPCO to obtain exclusive sales rights for Curtiss-Wright’s software solutions PMAX and PEPSE, which are currently being used in more than 500 locations worldwide.

“Curtiss-Wright views this partnership with TEPCO as a critical step towards optimising thermal power generation performance in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.”

TEPCO Global Innovation and Investments chief and managing executive officer Shin-ichiro Kengaku said: “We believe this new alliance with one of the world’s foremost power plant management companies illustrates the commitment TEPCO has made to bringing innovation and fresh thinking to an evolving marketplace while helping the environment at the same time.”

By acquiring the sales rights of Curtiss-Wright’s software products, TEPCO intends to focus on enhancing the efficiency of thermal power stations across Asia, which is said to be an important public policy goal.

Curtiss-Wright anticipates that TEPCO’s Asian presence and power generation expertise would support its sales and marketing activities in Asia.
