NovaSource Power Services has been selected to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) and generator operator (GO) services for Doral Renewables’ Mammoth Solar Project in Indiana.
One of the largest agrivoltaics facilities in the US, the Mammoth Solar Project is situated in Pulaski and Starke Counties. It is poised to generate nearly 1.6GWdc (gigawatts direct current) of renewable energy.
The project will be rolled out in four phases, with Mammoth North (480MWdc) completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The subsequent phases, Mammoth South, Mammoth Central I and Mammoth Central II, with 360MWdc of capacity each, are expected to be operational by 2026.
By effectively combining solar energy production with agricultural activities, the project promotes dual land use, fostering both renewable energy generation and sustainable farming.
This approach enables local farmers to broaden their income sources while making the most efficient use of available land.
NovaSource Power Services senior vice-president and chief commercial officer Irfan Bharde said: “Mammoth Solar Project represents a groundbreaking approach to agrivoltaics, and we are proud to collaborate with Doral Renewables on a project that sets new industry benchmarks for scale, sustainability and innovation.
“Our team is committed to delivering the highest standards of service, ensuring the project operates at its full potential and meeting all regulatory and operational requirements.”
NovaSource manages more than 30GW of solar assets globally and will use its expertise to ensure the Mammoth Solar Project operates at peak efficiency and complies with all regulatory standards.
The company will provide O&M services, gross operating profit management, GO support and adherence to Natural Environment Research Council compliance.
Furthermore, NovaSource will employ advanced data analytics and asset management technologies to enhance energy production and fine-tune the performance of the facility.
Doral Renewables Asset Management vice-president Chris Hinton said: “We are thrilled to partner with NovaSource Power Services to bring the Mammoth Solar Project to life. Mammoth Solar’s commitment to farming families, dual-use practices and the local communities will allow farmers to produce food and crops alongside the solar panels, maximising their land and profitability.
“The majority of these efforts will occur during the operation phase of the project and require an O&M partner with both professional experience and a similar community-oriented approach. NovaSource’s proven track record and credentials makes them the perfect partner to back up our commitments.”
