Axpo Nordic, part of the Switzerland-based Axpo Group, has entered a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Finnish renewable energy investor and producer Exilion Tuuli Ky.

Axpo will procure 22.1MW of clean electricity annually from the Ii Isokangas wind park, owned by Exilion Tuuli Ky, over 12 years from 2025.

The renewable electricity, amounting to 70 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year, will meet the energy needs of global consumer goods corporation Colgate-Palmolive.

Axpo Nordic originator Lauri Konsén stated: “Axpo is delighted to be co-operating with one of the biggest renewable energy producers in Finland. This agreement demonstrates Axpo’s ability to provide innovative clean energy solutions tailored to the needs of our clients.”

Located in the municipality of Ii in northern Finland, the wind park has five turbines.

Through the PPA, Axpo Nordic will facilitate the sale of electricity generated by these facilities directly to Colgate-Palmolive, enabling them to source renewable energy for their operations.

The deal marks a significant commitment to renewable energy sourcing in Finland.

Exilion investment manager Tommi Riski stated: “We are happy to support the sustainability of Colgate-Palmolive’s operations with Finnish wind energy. Axpo makes it possible to sell electricity with a long-term contract that enables a predictable cash flow for the institutional investors of Exilion Tuuli.”

Axpo Nordic has been a frontrunner in the Nordic and Baltic energy markets with a focus on electricity trading, renewable energy solutions and energy-related services.

With 24 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable power from wind and solar under management and handling 3.5GW of renewable power annually, Axpo Nordic continues to expand its portfolio and influence in the region’s transition towards cleaner energy sources.

In December 2024, Axpo Nordic and Norway-based Hydro Energi entered a ten-year contract to supply 2.63TWh of electricity to Hydro.

The long-term agreement, set from 2026 to 2035, will see Axpo delivering electricity to Hydro in the Swedish price area SE2, bolstering Hydro’s renewable energy portfolio.
