A consortium of Aker Solutions and Siemens Energy has obtained full notice to proceed from RWE, the UK’s leading power generator, with the Norfolk Vanguard West and East projects, integral to RWE’s Norfolk offshore wind zone.  

The full notice to proceed follows an initial limited notice announced in November 2023 and is a key achievement for Aker Solutions, reflecting its commitment to the global energy transition.

The project is a collaborative effort between Aker Solutions and Siemens Energy, with the former handling the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and installation of the high voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore platform, and the latter managing the onshore station and offshore high voltage equipment. 

The consortium, including a joint venture between Aker Solutions and Drydocks World, will deliver two HVDC platforms.  

The topsides are being fabricated by Drydocks World in Dubai. Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway, is responsible for the substructures.

Project execution has already commenced, with engineering and procurement activities underway.  

The Norfolk Vanguard West platform fabrication began in April 2024 at Drydocks World. The East platform’s fabrication is set for the second quarter of 2025. 

The platforms are scheduled for delivery and installation in 2027 and 2028 respectively. Before offshore installation, they will be transported to Aker Solutions’ Stord yard for final preparations.
