Wind turbine manufacturer Enercon has announced a significant expansion in Türkiye, with plans to install an additional 2.5GW of onshore wind capacity up to 2029.
The initiative is in partnership with Turkish energy companies Iş Enerji and Polat Enerji.
The collaboration was formalised through a letter of intent (LOI) signed at the German-Turkish Energy Forum in Berlin, witnessed by German Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck and Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.
Polat Enerji, the largest wind energy operator in Türkiye with more than 740MW of installed capacity, has been a key longterm international customer of ENERCON.
Iş Enerji, holding a 50% stake in Polat Enerji’s portfolio, operates wind farms with a total installed capacity of 84MW and has the potential to extend this by 40MW.
The LOI outlines the joint realisation of onshore wind projects in Türkiye and neighbouring countries.

By GlobalDataENERCON will provide the wind turbine technology and long-term service for the constructed wind farms.
The company will deploy its new turbine model E-175 EP5, with a rotor diameter of 175m and a rated power of 6MW to 7MW.
The agreement includes the delivery of 350 wind turbines – a significant milestone for the wind industry in Türkiye.
Türkiye’s wind onshore market is the sixth largest in Europe with a total capacity of 13GW. Of this, ENERCON has installed over 3GW since 1997.
ENERCON CEO Udo Bauer stated: “ENERCON is ready to continue its contribution to the energy transition in Türkiye.
“I am very much looking forward to the cooperation with our partners Iş Enerji and Polat Enerji, which represents a new milestone in onshore expansion in Türkiye.
“The political support for renewables in Türkiye is also exemplary. Politicians rightly see onshore wind as the cornerstone of a sustainable energy system in the country.”
In August 2024, ENERCON secured a contract with Polat Enerji to supply wind turbines with 110.5MW total capacity.
