US renewables developer Emeren Group has entered a co-development agreement with Arpinge to establish a 300MW battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio in southern Italy.
The collaboration is expected to bolster Emeren’s position in the Italian BESS market, where it has already secured 1.37GW within its permitting pipeline.
Arpinge Group CEO Federico Merola stated: “Collaborating with Emeren on this significant battery storage portfolio underscores our commitment to sustainable infrastructure investments that align with Italy’s energy transition objectives.
“This partnership leverages our combined expertise to accelerate the development of critical energy storage solutions, enhancing grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.”
The collaboration marks Emeren’s fourth partnership with an Italian entity on environmentally sustainable investments.
It is aligned with Italy’s ambition to transition towards cleaner energy sources, which is expected to expedite the permitting and development procedures.
