ACCIONA Energía has expanded its portfolio in the US by acquiring two additional wind farms in Texas with a total joint capacity of 300MW.
The wind projects, Green Pastures I (150MW) and Green Pastures II (also 150MW), are situated in Baylor and Knox Counties in the north-central area of the state.
The $202.5m acquisition substantially boosts ACCIONA Energía’s installed capacity in the US.
The projects are fully operational and were purchased from several private asset management firms.
Together, the two wind farms will produce around 1.1 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable energy annually.
Green Pastures I and II are integrated into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid, which oversees 90% of the state’s electricity transmission, distribution and commercialisation.
