ENGIE North America and Meta have finalised an environmental attributes purchase agreement (EAPA), under which ENGIE will provide 260MW of renewable energy from its Sypert Branch solar project.
The solar facility is located near Austin, Texas, and close to Meta’s data centre in Temple.
The site will deliver 100% of its output to Meta, contributing to the tech giant’s substantial renewable energy procurement portfolio, which already exceeds 12GW.
The project will begin operations in late 2025 and is set to bolster ENGIE’s existing portfolio of renewable energy projects, which currently stands at around 8GW across North America.
ENGIE’s innovative approach in the renewable energy sector has consistently enabled it to earn recognition as a leading developer for corporate energy power purchase agreements (PPAs).
ENGIE North America senior vice-president and chief renewables officer Dave Carroll said: “We are delighted to announce this agreement to work with Meta by providing renewable power that supports their growth and aligns with their net-zero commitments.

By GlobalData“We are proud that ENGIE’s proven track record in developing, building and operating renewable assets puts us at the forefront of the energy transition and this agreement with Meta recognizes the importance of that track record to our customers.”
The agreement marks a milestone for ENGIE, contributing to nearly 1GW of signed PPAs in the US for the year so far.
Meta Clean Energy head Urvi Parekh said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with ENGIE to make the clean energy transition a reality through projects like Sypert Branch.
“Since 2020, we have maintained net zero emissions in our global operations – these efforts are supported by relationships such as those with ENGIE who can consistently deliver and operate projects like Sypert Branch to help meet our energy needs.”
The solar facility is poised to offer significant economic benefits to the local community, creating over 300 construction jobs and generating more than $69m in tax revenue.
This includes approximately $45m earmarked for two local school districts.
Last month, Engie North America signed a PPA with Google to supply renewable energy from its Chillingham solar project in Bell County, Texas.
