GE Vernova has secured a contract to supply a 9HA.01 gas turbine for a 600MW hydrogen-capable power plant at Pulau Seraya power station on Jurong Island, Singapore.
The contract was celebrated during a ground-breaking ceremony led by YTL PowerSeraya Group.

The new facility will commence operations by 2027.
The power plant will initially run on natural gas, with the capability to blend up to 50% hydrogen.
This flexibility paves the way for a future transition to 100% hydrogen fuel, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
GE Vernova, POWERCHINA and SEPCO III have formed a consortium to execute the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the facility.

By GlobalDataThe contract also includes the provision of an STF-A650 steam turbine, a W88 generator and a heat recovery steam generator with triple pressure and reheating capabilities.
The 9HA.01 gas turbine features GE Vernova’s advanced DLN2.6e combustion system, developed under the US Department of Energy’s high hydrogen turbine programme.
The system allows the turbine to combust high volumes of hydrogen without the need for diluents.

“We are pleased that YTL PowerSeraya selected our H-Class technology aiming to deliver highly efficient power generation that can emit less carbon when blended with hydrogen.
“We look forward to teaming with SEPCOIII and POWERCHINA to bring lower-carbon power generation to Singapore, in alignment with Singapore’s commitment to achieve a net zero economy by 2050.”
GE Vernova has further reinforced its commitment to the region by establishing the Global Repair Service Solution centre in Singapore.
The facility serves as a global centre of excellence for HA repair and is the first of its kind outside the US. It is one of only four heavy-duty rotor service centres worldwide.
The GRSS additionally functions as an F-class bucket repair global centre of excellence, the largest F-class turbine blade repair service centre, and the only GE Vernova aero-derivative repair service centre with combustor DVM [dense vertically microcracked] coating capabilities.
In October 2024, GE Vernova secured a contract from the Kansai Electric Power Company to supply three 7HA.03 gas turbines for the modernisation of the Nanko power station in Osaka, Japan.
