Polenergia and Equinor Wind Power have finalised charter agreements for crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to support the construction of the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The projects, each with a capacity of 720MW, are joint ventures between the two companies, with project companies MFW Bałtyk II and MFW Bałtyk III overseeing the agreements.

Each project company has signed contracts for two vessels, one with Njord Offshore from the UK and the other with Northern Offshore Services from Denmark.

The agreements will provide a total of four CTVs to assist in the construction of the wind farms and transformer stations at sea.

The CTVs will also service the initial operational phase of the projects, including the technological start-up.

MFW Bałtyk II has secured a three-year charter period for its vessels, while MFW Bałtyk III’s contracts are based on an option formula, valid for three years, which can be exercised until 1 September 2026.

Both companies have the option to extend their contracts for an additional three years.

The charter costs over three years are estimated at €13.5m ($14.58m) for MFW Bałtyk II and around €13.8m for MFW Bałtyk III, should the option be utilised.

If the contracts are extended, the additional remuneration for the shipowners is projected to be €30m for both projects combined.

The expected commencement dates for the ship charter are the second quarter of 2026 for Baltyk 2 and the third quarter of 2027 for Baltyk 3.

The contracts include standard maritime provisions, such as the charter period, optional extension, liability, insurance and termination rules.

The agreements are governed by English law.
