Brazil-based Enel Green Power Brasil Participações (EGPB) has secured the right to sign power supply contracts to develop the 388MW direct current (DC) São Gonçalo solar photovoltaic (PV) project.
This follows an A-4 public tender organised by the Brazilian Federal Government through the nation’s electric power regulator Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL).
Under the deal, Enel Group is expected to invest approximately $355m for the construction of the solar power plant. The order is equal to 49% of the total 791MWdc of PV capacity offered in the public tender.
Enel Green Power head Antonio Cammisecra said: “The success of this tender marks another step forward for the Enel Group in Brazil, where we are already one of the leaders of the renewables market.
“The 388MW we have just been assigned is the beginning of a new wave of investments of our group in Brazil.”
The São Gonçalo project will be supported by 20-year power supply contracts, which will supply electricity to a number of companies operating in the Brazilian regulated market
