Description

The project is developed and owned by Altuna y Uria, Construcciones Moyua, Construcciones Murias, LKS Ingenieria Sociedad Cooperativa, Meridiam and Urbaser. The company's ownership stake in the project stands as 50%, 46%, 1%, 1%, 1% and 1% respectively.

The project generates 102.425GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 45,000 households, offsetting 94,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Refuse which is a kind of municipal solid waste is used as a feedstock to power the project.

Contractors involved

Hitachi Zosen Inova Steinmuller was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Siemens was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 unit of Condensing turbine with 24.5MW nameplate capacity.

Hitachi Zosen Inova Steinmuller supplied steam boiler for the project. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 419°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 53bar.

Urbaser is the O&M contractor for the project.
