A consortium of India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and South Korea’s Samsung C&T has secured a deal from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to develop the 400MW Bibiyana South combined-cycle power plant.
The $250m engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract will be implemented by L&T.
To be situated in Bangladesh, the plant will feature a Siemens’ single shaft advanced class gas turbine and a steam turbine and generator, which will be procured by L&T.
The L&T and Sargent & Lundy joint venture (JV) will use its propriety technology to perform integration and detail engineering.
L&T’s gas-based power projects business unit in Vadodara will execute the overall project.
L&T Power CEO and managing director Shailendra Roy said: “That L&T has bagged the fourth order in Bangladesh firmly establishes its project execution credentials in that country.”
