OEG Renewables (OEGR) has entered a partnership with the Sojitz Machinery Corporation (SOMAC) to bolster offshore wind development in Japan.
The collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding, will focus on providing pre-construction, operations and maintenance (O&M), and vessel services for offshore wind projects.
The alliance will leverage OEGR’s expertise in offshore energy solutions and SOMAC’s local capabilities and resources.
The Japanese offshore wind market is set to expand from its current 259.5MW to 3.5GW.
Japan has a target of achieving 10GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and between 35 and 40GW by 2040.
OEGR has established itself in Taiwan, providing integrated service solutions to major offshore wind projects.
