Description

The project is being developed by Asonha Energie. Meridiam and Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS) are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

Kinguele Aval is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project will be 43m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 3 in number. The penstock length will be 210m. The penstock diameter will be 2.8m. The project is expected to generate 203 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 12MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Societe d’Energie et d’Eau du Gabon under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years.

Contractors involved

Hydropower Bureau and Sinohydro are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
