RWE Clean Energy, a subsidiary of German utility RWE, has announced eight long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Dominion Energy Virginia to supply solar power totalling 300MW.
RWE will supply power from its seven solar projects, generating 750,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy. All of the projects are located in the US state of Virginia.
The portfolio of solar projects covered by the PPAs will power 70,000 homes in Virginia.
The PPAs align with Dominion Energy’s 2050 target for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
The solar plants include the 20MW Pleasant Hill in the City of Suffolk, the 20MW Watlington in Halifax County and the 75MW Wythe County project, which will come online in 2024.
Other projects include the 69MW Switchgrass, the 52MW 360 Solar and Groves Solar and Harrisonburg Solar, with 15MW each. These projects are still in development and the power they produce will be sold under the PPAs.
