Description

The project was developed by Alternative Energy Projects and Barka Water and Power Company SAOG. Barka Water and Power Company SAOG, Gulf Investment and Alternative Energy Projects are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50%, 40% and 10% respectively.

Ibri II Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 1,154.25 hectares.

The project generates 1,300GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 50,000 households, offsetting 340,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2020 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in January 2022.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Oman Power and Water Procurement under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years from 2021. The contracted capacity is 500MW.

Contractors involved

Power China Huadong Engineering and Power Construction Corporation of China were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

The solar PV modules for the project were supplied by Jolywood (Taizhou) Solar Technology and Yingli Energy (China).

Sungrow Power Supply supplied 3,204 of its SG250HX inverters to the project site.

The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by Arctech Solar Holding.

The First National Operation & Maintenance is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
