Description

The project is being developed by EDF Renewables (South Africa). EDF Renewables (South Africa), Riverbank Winds of Change BBBEE Co (RF), Telagystix and Uncedo Lwethu Winds of Change are currently owning the project.

Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase II) consists of 12 turbines with 3.3MW nameplate capacity.

The Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase I), will have 117m high towers.

The Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase II), will have 90m high towers.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2019. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2021.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase I) will be sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement. The offtake capacity is expected to be 34.5MW.

Contractors involved

Vestas Southern Africa is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase I).

Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase I) will be equipped with Vestas Wind Systems V126-3.45MW turbines. The phase consists of 10 turbines with 3.45MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Southern Africa is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project (Wesley-Ciskei Wind Project Phase I) for a period of 15 years.
