Description

The project was developed by Nam Ngiep1 Power. The Kansai Electric Power, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Lao Holding State Enterprise are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 30% and 25% respectively.

The hydro reservoir capacity is 1,200 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project are 132.7m and 130.9m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock length is 185m. The penstock diameter is 5.2m. The project generated 1,546 GWh of electricity.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2014 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2019.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under a power purchase agreement for a period of 27 years. The contracted capacity is 272MW.

IHI Infrastructure Systems was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.

Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 136MW nameplate capacity.

Hitachi Mitsubishi Hydro supplied 2 electric generators for the project.
