Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Zimbabwe Power.
It is a Steam Turbine power plant that will be used for Baseload. The power plant can run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant will be subbituminous. In case of shortage of subbituminous the plant will run on Coke Oven Gas. The fuel will be procured from Hwange Colliery Company Limited, Makomo Mine, Coal Brick Mine.
The thermal power project consists of 4 turbines each with 120 MW nameplate capacity and 2 turbines each with 220 MW nameplate capacity respectively.
Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 1983.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission under a power purchase agreement.

Babcock Power is likely to be the supplier of steam boiler for the Hwange Power Station (Hwange Power Station Unit VI).
