Description

The project is being developed by Tahanu Hydropower and is currently owned by Tanahu Hydropower.

Tanahun is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 295.1 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 115.8m and 112.5m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 1 in number. The penstock length will be 175m. The penstock diameter will be 7.4m. The project is expected to generate 50,250 MWh of electricity.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Nepal Electricity Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 140MW.

Powerchina International Group is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.

Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company is expected to provide 2 units of francis turbines, each with 70MW nameplate capacity.

Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions is expected to supply 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is likely to be 74.7 MVA.
