Canadian company Enbridge has signed an agreement with Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES Americas) to develop a 110MW wind power project in Texas, US.
Under the agreement, Enbridge will invest $200m in the Keechi Wind project, while RES Americas is responsible for the construction of the project.

RES Americas started construction of the project in December 2013 and expects to commission it in the first quarter of 2015.
The project calls for the construction of 55 Vestas wind turbines of 2MW each and a 12-mile generation tie-line that will connect it to Brazos Electric Power Cooperative’s Joplin substation.
Vestas is also responsible for providing a five-year turbine operations and maintenance services after the start of commercial operations.
Located around 60 miles north-west of Fort Worth, near the town of Jacksboro, the project will generate around 430,000MWh of electricity annually, which is enough to serve around 45,000 homes, and curb approximately 260,000Mg a year.

By GlobalDataThe project will supply its output into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market under a 20-year power purchase agreement signed between RES Americas and Microsoft.
The wind power purchase, which is part of Microsoft’s commitment to become carbon neutral, will be funded in part by proceeds from its carbon fee.
With the latest project, Enbridge’s total generating capacity of green power projects, in which it has interests, will reach more than 1,800MW, while it will also help the company comply with its ‘Neutral Footprint’ commitment.
RES Americas executive vice-president Brian Evans said, "Texas has shown its commitment to remain a leader in the renewable energy industry, and Keechi Wind, the 19th project we’ve constructed in the state, will help reduce carbon emissions, create jobs and deliver economic benefits to the local community."
