IT jobs accounted for a 9.42% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering an increase of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 45.45% in October 2022, a 30.08% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.04% in October 2022, marking a 20.94% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.45% in October 2022, a 5.26% drop from September 2022.

Top five power companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.81% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s power industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Siemens posted 153 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 24.63% over the previous month, followed by Umicore with 121 jobs and a 0.83% growth. Nordex with 54 IT jobs and E.ON with 52 jobs, recorded a 10.2% rise and a 79.31% rise, respectively, while National Grid recorded a flat growth with 36 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s power industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 22.67% share in October 2022, a 16.89% decrease over September 2022. The UK featured next with a 17.93% share, down 16.76% over the previous month. Belgium recorded a 15.07% share, a drop of 6.2% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.97%, down by 22.05% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 13.7% share, registered a decline of 10.57% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 11.83% share, down 32.14% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.5%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
