Wind turbine manufacturer ACCIONA Windpower (AW) has started supplying 100 of its AW 116/3000 wind turbine models for the 300MW Green Pastures wind complex in the US.
Managed by the global asset management firm Capital Dynamics, the wind complex is spread across 18,000 acres in Baylor and Knox counties in the northern part of Texas.
ACCIONA has initiated the first phase of the supply with 50 3MW AW 116/3000 turbines, which will have a generation capacity of 150MW and become operational by March 2015.
The AW wind turbines feature 116m-diameter rotors for optimum performance at varying levels of wind speed, and will be installed on 92m-high steel towers.
Besides the delivery, ACCIONA is also in charge of operations and maintenance of the installed turbines for a ten-year period.
ACCIONA Windpower North America CEO Enrique Teruel said: "ACCIONA Windpower gives this project a competitive advantage that is decisive in the North American wind power market nowadays."
