Finnish energy company Taaleri Energia has announced the opening of its Escalade wind farm in Truscott, Texas, in partnership with AIP Management and Akuo.

The 336MW wind farm features 45 Vestas V162 5.6MW turbines and 20 Vestas V150 4.2MW turbines.

In a separate development, Taaleri Energia has completed €205m refinancing for its Čibuk onshore wind farm in Serbia.

Taaleri Energia refinanced the 158MW wind project together with UniCredit, Credit Suisse, Eurobank and OTP Bank.

Taaleri Energia managing director Kai Rintala said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this refinancing, which has significantly enhanced returns for our investors.”

Featuring 57 GE turbines, Čibuk is claimed to be the largest wind farm in Serbia and has the capacity to generate enough clean energy to power around 87,000 households.

It also has the capacity to displace around 380,000 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.

Čibuk is owned by the Taaleri SolarWind I Fund and its co-investors, which include Finnfund, Masdar and DEG.

Earlier this year, Taaleri Energia acquired the Zadar wind farm in Croatia in partnership with wind energy firm Encro.

The 111MW wind farm can power around 85,000 households and offset roughly 78,000t of carbon emissions a year.
