Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q3 2022: China leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in Q3 2022 with 162 contracts and a share of 71.4%, up 10.5% over the previous quarter and flat growth when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by the Philippines with 20 contracts and a share of 8.8% and India with ten contracts and a share of 4.4% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, China held the top spot with 162 contracts, followed by India with 68 and Australia with 24 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2022
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 81 contracts and a 48.5% share, followed by wind with 47 contracts and a 28.1% share and thermal with 18 contracts and a 10.8% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q3 2022, with 119 contracts, followed by T&D Project (100) and Electricity Procurement (37).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 94 contracts and a 41.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 75 contracts and a 33% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 37 contracts and a 16.3% share
- Supply & Erection: 15 contracts and a 6.6% share
