Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in Q3 2022: Democratic Republic of the Congo leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, Democratic Republic of the Congo led the activity in Q3 2022 with seven tenders and a share of 31.8%, up 29.8% over the previous quarter and up 600% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Mali with three tenders and a share of 13.6% and South Africa with three tenders and a share of 13.6% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, South Africa held the top spot with 166 tenders, followed by Zimbabwe with 11 and Jordan with nine tenders.

Hydro is top technology area for tenders in Q3 2022
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, hydro accounted for the largest proportion with 13 tenders and a 72.2% share, followed by solar with four tenders and a 22.2% share and thermal with one tender and a 5.6% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Middle East and Africa power tenders activity during Q3 2022, with 16 tenders, followed by T&D Project (4) and T&D Equipment (2).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 12 tenders and a 54.5% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 22.7% share
- Supply & Erection: two tenders and a 9.1% share
