Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW) has acquired the Albatros offshore wind farm project in the German North Sea from consortium partners STRABAG and the Norderland/ETANAX Group.
Located 105km away from the coast, the project is spread over a 39km² area at a water depth of 39m to 40m and has a power generation capacity of around 400MW.
Financial details about the deal have not yet been disclosed.
The wind facility has permission to install 79 wind turbines of the 5MW-7MW rating class, EnBW said.
The project offers the scope for exploitation of other synergies during its construction and operational phases, and is adjacent to the Hohe See offshore wind farm, which is also owned by EnBW.
EnBW chief executive officer Dr Frank Mastiaux said: "We are expanding our offshore wind portfolio with the acquisition of the Albatros project, and thus continuing to push forward our EnBW 2020 strategy.
