France-based oil and gas company TotalEnergies has partnered with Polish mining company KGHM to participate in an auction for offshore wind projects.
The Polish government will lease 11 offshore development areas, whose total capacity amounts to more than 10GW, in the Polish Baltic Sea.
TotalEnergies chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné said: “The development of offshore wind contributes both to Europe’s energy transition and supply security.
“With favourable weather conditions, Poland is particularly well-positioned to participate in the growth of this promising market.
“We are delighted to partner with KGHM to respond to Polish offshore wind tenders.
“Together, we will mobilise all our expertise to meet the challenges of these projects and thus contribute to Poland’s renewable energy goals.”
