US-based General Electric (GE) has received an order from Pattern Development to deliver 61 wind turbines for 180MW Meikle wind project in British Columbia, Canada.
Situated around 33km north of Tumbler Ridge in the Peace Region of the Canadian province, the wind power facility will be equipped with 35 of GE’s 3.2-103 units, and 26 of its 2.75-120 turbines.
Once operational, the wind project will be the largest in British Columbia.
Generated power from the facility will be enough to meet the annual energy requirements of 54,000 households in the province, boosting British Columbia’s installed wind power capacity by 38%.
Pattern Development intends to start commercial operation of project in late 2016.
In addition to turbine delivery, GE has also signed a full service agreement for the facility with Pattern Energy.
