North America power industry contracts in February 2022: The US leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, the US led the activity in February 2022 with 23 contracts and a share of 65.7%, down 32.7% over the previous month and down 60% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with seven contracts and a share of 20% and Mexico with four contracts and a share of 11.4% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 57 contracts, followed by Canada with four and Mexico with one contract.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in February 2022
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 15 contracts and a 48.4% share, followed by wind with eight contracts and a 25.8% share and thermal with four contracts and a 12.9% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment in February 2022, with 18 contracts, followed by Power Plant (8) and Smart Grid (6).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 16 contracts and a 45.7% share
- Supply & Erection: nine contracts and a 25.7% share
- Project Implementation: six contracts and a 17.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 5.7% share
- Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 5.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- Comision Federal de Electricidad (Mexico): 1,500MW from one contract
- Hydro-Quebec (Canada): 297.5MW from two contracts
- Lightsource BP Renewable Energy Investments (United Kingdom): 130MW capacity from one contract.
Power contracts in February 2022: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
- Tecnicas Reunidas (Spain) and TSK Group (Spain): 1,500MW from one contract
- Brookfield Renewable (United States): 263MW from one contract
- Orbital Solar Services (United States): 130MW capacity from one contract.
