Description

The project was developed by GRI Renewable Industries, Mulilo Renewable Energy and X-ELIO Energy. The project is currently owned by Mulilo Renewable Energy with a stake of 100%.

Prieska Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 34 hectares.

The project generates 38,300MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 8,517 households, offsetting 38,314t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project got commissioned in October 2014.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 20MW.

Contractors involved

ABB South Africa and GRI Renewable Industries were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

Trina Solar was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 44,880 modules each with 230W of nameplate capacity.

The inverters were procured from ABB South Africa for the project.

ABB South Africa and X-ELIO Energy were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.
