Japanese Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and Mitsubishi have won a full-turnkey order for 880MW natural-gas-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) for the Jawa-2 combined cycle power plant project in Indonesia.
The firms have secured the order from the state-owned power company PT. PLN (Persero), along with local construction and engineering firm PT. Wasa Mitra Engineering (WASA).
The project will involve construction of GTCC power plant on the premises of Tanjung Priok Power Plant in the central part of the Indonesian capital Jakarta.
Scheduled to be operational from 2018, the facility is expected to meet the country’s rising power demands.
Jawa-2 power project is a part of a 35GW power expansion programme initiated by the Indonesian Government.
Under the order, MHPS will be responsible for M701F4 gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and one steam turbine and the balance of plant (BOP).

By GlobalDataWhile the generators will be procured from Mitsubishi Electric, WASA will be handling the installation works at the facility, with the civil work to be undertaken by some other local company.
MHPS has previously delivered its M701F gas turbines for the Cilegon power plant in 2006, Muara Karang power plant in 2011 and Tanjung Priok power plant (Block No.3) in 2012.
