Siemens has exported its first of five Industrial Trent 60 gas turbine generator packages to Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company’s (ADMA-OPCO) Satah Al-Razboot (SARB) offshore oil field project on Zirku Island.
The package will be shipped from the company’s manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon in the US state of Ohio. Siemens will also be responsible for instalation and commissioning.
The Industrial Trent 60 can produce up to 66MW of electric power in simple-cycle service at 42% efficiency. This ensures fuel-burn cost savings.
In a separate development, Siemens received a 23-year long-term service and maintenance agreement for the upcoming Panda Hummel Station, which is a 1,124 megawatt (MW) combined cycle power plant in Pennsylvania, US.
Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for coverage of scheduled maintenance activities, programme management, and parts for the plant’s three SGT6-5000F gas turbines.
Panda Hummel Station is scheduled to begin operation in 2018, and will supply power to more than one million households in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Philadelphia and New York City.
