December 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.62% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for an 8.06% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.92% in December 2021, a 10.24% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.49% in December 2021, marking a 27.45% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.68% in December 2021, an 8.84% drop from November 2021.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 9.11% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during December 2021 over previous month.
NextEra Energy posted 269 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 31.22% over the previous month, followed by Duquesne Light with 100 jobs and a 5.26% growth. Siemens with 90 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 56 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 33.33% drop, respectively, while Exelon recorded a 14.29% increase with 48 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 97.77% share in December 2021, a 10.65% decrease over November 2021. Canada featured next with a 1.88% share, down 60.87% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.21% share, a growth of 50% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.99%, down by 3.87% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.59% share, registered a decline of 26.77% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.93% share, down 9.19% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.49%, recording a month-on-month growth of 40%.
