Description

The project was developed by Cramlington Renewable Energy Development and Estover Energy. The project is currently owned by JLEN Environmental Assets Group with a stake of 100%.

The project generates 223GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 52,000 households, offsetting 56,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project got commissioned in March 2018.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Statkraft under a power purchase agreement.

Contractors involved

Burmeister & Wain Energy and Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Burmeister & Wain Energy supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 90TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 540°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 140bar.

Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor is the O&M contractor for the project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2018, for a period of 12 years.
