Description
The project is currently owned by Gangakhed Sugar and Energy.
The project generates 120,684MWh electricity thereby offsetting 150,029t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.
The project consists of 1 turbine with 30MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
The project got commissioned in July 2010.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Reliance Energy Trading under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.
Contractors involved
Sunil Hitech Engineers was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
Thermax supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 150TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 540°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 111.45bar.
