Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in Q4 2021: China leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, China led the activity in Q4 2021 with 137 contracts and a share of 39.3%, up 10.4% over the previous quarter and up 65% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by India with 73 contracts and a share of 20.9% and Australia with 22 contracts and a share of 6.3% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, China held the top spot with 83 contracts, followed by India with 60 and Australia with 31 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q4 2021
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 194 contracts and a 63.6% share, followed by wind with 49 contracts and a 16.1% share and thermal with 20 contracts and a 6.6% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Asia-Pacific power contracts activity during Q4 2021, with 167 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (70) and Generation Equipment (67).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 163 contracts and a 46.7% share
- Supply & Erection: 72 contracts and a 20.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 67 contracts and a 19.2% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 32 contracts and a 9.2% share

- Energy Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region: 1,550MW from one contract
- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (Taiwan): 1,200MW capacity from one contract.
