North America power industry tenders in December 2021: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in December 2021 with 181 tenders and a share of 80.1%, up 3.2% over the previous month and flat growth when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 45 tenders and a share of 19.9%.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in December 2021

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 90 tenders and an 82.6% share, followed by solar with 14 tenders and a 12.8% share and hydro with four tenders and a 3.7% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in December 2021, with 97 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (93) and Energy Storage (10).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 174 tenders and a 77% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 32 tenders and a 14.2% share
  3. Project Implementation: 13 tenders and a 5.8% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 1.3% share

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Hydro-Quebec (Canada): 780MW from two tenders
  2. Public Service Company of Oklahoma (United States): 250MW from one tender
  3. State of Vermont (United States): 0.3MW capacity from one tender.
