GE’s Power Services business has signed a multiyear agreement to support the long-term availability of three 9FA gas turbines at Israel Electric Corporation's Eshkol, Tzafit, and Alon Tavor power stations.
GE’s Power Services business president and CEO Paul McElhinney said: “GE is delighted to continue our close working relationship with IEC by implementing this multiyear agreement and maintaining IEC’s three power plants.
“We are proud to help IEC work to increase the country’s long-term energy supply by improving the reliability and availability of its existing 9FA gas turbine fleet.”
Signed at IEC’s headquarters in Haifa, the new agreement follows an earlier 13-year agreement between IEC and GE for the stations. This deal comes into effect once the old service agreement expires in 2017.
GE will offer parts, repair, and technical advisory services for planned outages for the three 9FA units.
The natural gas-fired, 1,449MW Eshkol Power Station is located in the north industrial zone of Ashdad and supplies power to the Shephelah region. This is the country's third largest power plant in terms of production capacity. The 650MW Tzafit Power Station is located 40km southeast of Tel Aviva, while the 650MW Alon Tavor Power Station is located in the Alon Tavor industrial zone.
