Description
The project was developed by Taweelah Asia Power. Abu Dhabi National Energy, Marubeni, BTU Power, Pendekar Power Labuan and Kyuden International are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60%, 14%, 10%, 10% and 6% respectively.
It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Crude Oil. The fuel is procured from Emirates Water and Electricity Co.
Development Status
The project got commissioned in 1995.

The power generated from the project is sold to Emirates Water and Electricity under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors Involved
Fisia Italiampianti and Sadelmi Power were selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.
GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 6 units of DKE 2-1063 steam turbines, each with 146MW nameplate capacity.
ABB supplied electric generator for the project.
Babcock Lentjes Kraftwerkstechnik supplied steam boiler for the project.
Asia Gulf Power Services is the O&M contractor for thermal power project for a period of 20 years.
