French information technology consulting company Capgemini has signed a deal to provide IT services to British energy firm Horizon Nuclear Power.
Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Capgemini will use its experience in the energy and utilities sector to develop a new Nuclear Centre of Excellence (NCoE). It will collaborate with Horizon to use the latest technology to provide IT services alongside providing new project solutions.
During the development phase of Horizon’s proposed new Wylfa Newydd power station in North Wales, Capgemini’s services will focus on delivering real business outcomes.
Horizon Nuclear Power's IT head John Fenwick said: “We were in need of an organisation that could drive innovative solutions, deliver high-quality standards of implementation, and provide the security needed for the types and scale of digital operations we will be undertaking, both now and in the future.
“These are all things we are confident our collaboration with Capgemini can deliver over the next three years.”
By developing a multi-channel service desk, Capgemini will help enable better user experience for all employees. The company also plans to develop a security operations centre, which will be delivered from its Inverness-based Security Operations Centre.
