Description
The project was developed by GIZ and Rural Electrification Authority. The project is currently owned by Rural Electrification Authority.
Garissa Solar Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 85 hectares.
The project generates 76,473MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 70,000 households, offsetting 43,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $133.917m.

Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Kenya Power and Lighting under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.054kWh for a period of 25 years.
Contractors Involved
China Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Cooperation was selected to render EPC services for the solar PV power project.
JinkoSolar Holding was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 210,000 modules each with 260W of nameplate capacity.
