Tidal power projects developer Atlantis has signed a preferred supplier agreement (PSA) with SBS Intl for the delivery of turbines, equipment, and engineering services for a 150MW tidal-stream array in Lombok, Indonesia.
SBS Intl is a UK-based privately-owned international marine, subsea, and renewable energy project developer with a branch office and independent power producer (IPP) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
As part of the PSA, SBS has been awarded exclusive development rights to three offshore sites with a combined ocean energy capacity of 450MW.
The three offshore sites are located around the islands of Lombok and Bali in Indonesia. The tidal-stream project will be supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned electrical utility company PT. Perusahan Listrik Negara (PLN).
Atlantis' chief executive officer (CEO) Tim Cornelius said: “Indonesia has clear potential for commercial-scale tidal power and the support of PLN shows there is also the demand and support for the development of tidal power in remote island locations across Indonesia.
“SBS has secured exclusive developments for three sites each with a potential installed capacity of 150MW and we look forward to working with SBS to deliver clean, predictable, sustainable energy harvested from the ocean.”
