The project is being developed and currently owned by Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi.
Fufu is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 138 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 400m. The project is expected to generate 420 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $702m.
The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.
