Description
The project is currently owned by Kerala State Electricity Board.
The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock length is 955m. Idukki (Phase- I (Unit 1- Unit- 3)) underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2016. The project generated 2,398 GWh of electricity.
Idukki (Phase- II (Unit 4- Unit 6)) consists of 3 units of pelton turbines with 130MW nameplate capacity.
The hydro power project consists of 6 generators each with 144 MVA nameplate capacity.
