Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) has issued a request for qualification (RFQ) for a new 400MW windpower project to be situated in Dumat Al Jandal, in the Al Jouf region.
A number of national / international developers and consortiums have been invited to take part in the RFQ, which will close on 10 August this year. Qualified bidders will then enter the request for proposal (RFP) process that is set to launch on 29 August and close in January next year.
The newly announced RFQ follows an initial government tender issued in April this year for a 300MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant to be set up in Sakaka, Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid Al-Falih said: “The National Renewable Energy Programme is a long and systematic path to energy and economic diversification for Saudi Arabia, and a cornerstone of the Ministry’s contribution to Vision 2030.
“As we enter the second half of 2017, we remain committed to ensuring our ambitious programme remains on track to deliver the value and opportunities targeted by the programme.”
“The release of Dumat Al Jandal’s wind project RFQ, and upcoming RFP next month, ensures that we remain on course to tender 700MW in round one this year.”
