Description

The project is being developed by Equinor Wind US. The project is co-owned by BP and Equinor Wind US, with their respective ownership stake of 50% each.

The project is expected to supply enough clean energy to power 1,000,000 households. The project will be spread over an area of 517.997km². The turbines will be mounted on fixed suction bucket jacket foundations.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2025. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2028.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the Beacon Wind Offshore Project (Beacon Wind phase 1) will be sold to New York State Energy Research & Development Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years. The offtake capacity is expected to be 1,230MW.
